The myth that coaching kills board marks #
The most common parent-fear we hear: "Will defence coaching pull down my child's 12th board score?" In our 25 years at SCFE, we have seen the opposite. Children who follow a structured coaching schedule almost always score higher in boards — because they learn to revise daily, take mock tests seriously, and respect the clock.
A realistic week (Class 11–12 NDA aspirant) #
| Time | Mon–Fri | Sat | Sun |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5:30–6:30 AM | Physical training | PT | Rest / family |
| 6:30–8:00 AM | School prep / breakfast | School project | Mock test |
| 8:00 AM–3:00 PM | School | School (half day) | — |
| 4:00–6:00 PM | Coaching class | Coaching class | Discussion |
| 6:30–9:00 PM | Self-study (school) | Self-study | Family time |
| 9:00–10:00 PM | GK + reading | GK + reading | Prep next week |
This schedule gives 35 hours/week to school study, 12 hours to coaching and 5 hours to PT — without burning the child out.
Three rules for parents #
- Pick one coaching institute and trust it. Hopping between three pulls scores down.
- Sleep is non-negotiable. No child can run a 9-min mile and write a Physics paper on 5 hours.
- Talk weekly with the academic mentor. Most institutes (us included) offer this — use it.
When to start #
- Sainik School (AISSEE) — Class 5 onwards: see Sainik School coaching
- NDA / TES — Class 11 onwards: see NDA and Indian Army B.Tech (TES)
- MNS — During Class 12: see MNS coaching
Final word #
Coaching is not a parallel education — it is structured exam practice. Combine it with steady school work and your child gains both the marks and the badge. Talk to our parent counsellor for a 1-hour clarity session.
