The 8-point checklist #
1. Faculty mix #
A serious institute pairs subject experts (Math, English, GK) with ex-Armed-Forces officers for SSB. Ask for the names. Look them up.
2. Physical training #
Defence selection is half-physical. A coaching centre without a daily PT slot and a track is just a tuition class.
3. Mock SSB facility #
Does the institute run real GTO obstacles? Real PPDT screens? Real conference rooms with 5-member panels? Demand to see them.
4. Track record (with evidence) #
Ask for the last three years of selected candidates with merit numbers and the SSB board. Vague claims = weak track record.
5. Batch size #
No serious SSB or interview prep works in batches above 25. Ideal: 12–18 per cohort.
6. Hostel & safety #
For outstation students, verified girls' / boys' hostels with food and warden supervision are non-negotiable.
7. Honest counselling #
Run, don't walk, from any centre that promises selection guarantees. The board decides. Coaching only prepares.
8. Material and tests #
Updated study material aligned to current UPSC / IAF patterns + weekly mock tests with rank list and individual feedback.
