What is the Agnipath scheme? #
Launched in 2022, Agnipath is the Indian Armed Forces' new short-service entry. Soldiers — called Agniveers — serve a four-year tour. The top 25% are retained for permanent service; the rest exit with a Seva Nidhi corpus of approximately ₹11.71 lakh (tax-free) and lifetime preference in CAPF, state police and corporate hiring.
